Sociopaths in destructive society

The monster-society

Sometimes, we witness deviants and recognize Mr. Hyde in them, people with the Dorian Gray syndrome, as well as the most specific samples of the Frankenstein’s monsters – brutal soldiers refused by the socio.

Each portrays own deviation. What have had changed since the classic era? The social behaviour, technology, amenities, etc, but the trauma remains the same, the wounds of the sociopaths are quite similar to those that were created centuries ago – greed, jealousy, racism, split personality, etc.

More and more of politics are using the mask of Dr. Jekyll to hide their hypocritical Mr. Hyde, and Dorians try to preserve their youth, demanding more blood. The mutilated Frankenstein’s monsters of the authoritarian governments go to war, to fight against the invisible enemy - their own civil society.

The civil society that germinates freaks from their own kind, in order to rebate their traumas, bring out the failed children to light. This monster could be created in the minority, the weakest in the society, spat out either by its horrid apparition, or by the outstanding marks. Could be the best or the worst of the society.

Usually we see the best are being killed by the monster-society: philosophers, civil right activists, engineers, scientists and on. The worst of the bunch remain on the executioner’s lever, or pertain themselves to prison, becoming the Frankenstein’s creature.

The freaks of popular novels

The freaks

There is a difference between the freak of the society and the slave of it. The freak would always stand out, deviate, fight, quench in agony, lose, or even win, but mostly the former. The slave remains in fear to the rest of his life and never deviates, wins or attains anything.

The beast of the political power creates Mr. Hyde’s aspiration, the notion of never being punished or caught. A drug addict who savours the first dose and believes the second would be the same.

Life without any laws and regret of general Kurtz, in the Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, is another example of Mr. Hyde, or even Frankenstein’s monster, running his own island on freaks.

The hunger for power, the life with no regret – the outcomes that mostly come from greedy people. Mr. Hyde was voracious for pleasures and quickly became subjugated by his own game.

Syringe

The drug addict

The other type of a ‘drug addict’ is the Dorian Gray one. This one is more gray and sustainable in emptiness. This one has all the comfort and doesn’t need any power, or even life.

The most careless, but not really reckless, if you look at it. The most dangerous, when it’s irritated, but turbid during the daytime. This one is the apathy, the lethargy that seeks nothing in particular but a time-killing. Any movement to change life and make it more productive could be met with skepticism, or even violence. Therefore, the people who surround such type are regarded as the inexperienced ones, dull fools with no wisdom. Dorian Gray understood life, it’s gray and empty, then why those fools are rushing around, trying to make a living?

The socium is below him. He hates it, because it’s stupid and enjoys life, he abhors it, because it’s primitive and loud, but he's quite jealous of it, because it's happy and content.

the monster

The prisoner of past

And finally, the Frankenstein’s monster, who haven’t even had a name in the novel. Could have been a reference to the working class delinquents. This one is a wounded soldaphone who is at the bottom of the bottoms, (most of the C. Dickens’ works, V. Hugo’s Les Miserables, etc). He worked hard feeding the rich like Dorian Gray and Mr. Hyde, but he himself had gotten only poorer.

He is aged early, with rotten teeth and precocious wrinkles. He’s no longer needed in the society, nor in the government – he is distrusted, or used.

He’d never repeat his best moments of life and he is consoled with it, atoned to be destined for the eternal suffering. His way is a fog, perhaps there he sees the sparkles of light. In the pits of the listless society, surrounding him (the same people that made him an outcast), sometimes he finds true human value.

He is cynical, heartless, but still romantic deep inside, because that’s how he had grew up, and still believes he could achieve an island of paradise, perhaps alone, or even with someone like him, where once it would start all anew. Most of them die unrealized. Some types get morphed into other types, or even fixed with time, others - remain the same. The history of humankind is the history of a great waste of human beings and potentials.

Sociopaths made it easier to study and trace down such waste and deviation. Sociopaths reveal it all about all of us with no exceptions, and give us more fodder for further study.
